Cynthia started her fashion-modeling career after moving from New York. She was quickly signed on to a five year contract to Wihelmina Models, which led her to an extremely successful debut as the cover for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence first cover not only was one of the most sold covers but was also Susan Taylor's preferred. Soon thereafter, Cynthia booked her second cover and thus created the stage for her career to be successful. Following her move to Paris Cynthia took to the Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia, who had lived overseas for nearly one year, came back to New York City where she was very in demand. Campaigns in the name of Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's and Macy's were her initial assignments. Vogue editorials followed, along with Glamour magazine Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. One of Cynthia's biggest moment in her career was the fact that she was selected against Naomi Campbell for a co-starring part alongside Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
